Ciidamo ItoobiyaYaqbiri wyne,(insidesomalia.org)-Reports from Yaqbari Weyne and Balidogle in Lower Shabelle Region, southern Somalia, say that the Somali Islamic Front [FIS] fighters ambushed an Ethiopian military convoy last night residents said.

Spokesman for the FIS group Farhan Moge told Mareeg online that the Ethiopian troops have suffered huge losses.

“he FIS fighters attacked the enemy, who were in 25 battle wagons, in an area between Yaqbari Weyne and Balidogle localities” Farhan said” the enemy troops are now spreading themselves in these two localities”

Sources close in the warred area said that the two warred sides were not far from each other that might increase the causalities of the two sides.

There have been frequent random killing and explosions, mostly roadside bombs targeting at Somali government security forces, Ethiopian soldiers and AU peacekeepers, in Mogadishu since Somali government declared an end of major conflicts in the capital late April.

Government officials blame insurgent groups for the upsurge in violence in the capital in Somalia as the islamists accuse the Ethiopian backed Somali troops of committing war crimes and massive killings.

Somali has been without an effective national government since the overthrow of former ruler Mohamed Siyad Barre.
